Nancy Ann Even Sheley Long

Nancy Ann Even Sheley Long, 83, died on October 6, 2017, in Lincoln, Illinois, after a brief illness. Nancy Ann Even was born on December 5, 1933 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the daughter of Aloysius J. and Edith Buell Even. Nan graduated from Cathedral High School in Sioux Falls in 1951. She married, and had four children; two of whom passed on in infancy and childhood. Nan is survived by her son, Rick Sheley (wife Mary Jane) and daughter, Holly Johnson (husband Don); five grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; her brothers and sisters, Judy, Jim, Barb, Bill, Ginny, Don, Charlie, and Elizabeth; and the rest of the Even clan. Nancy always enjoyed the theatre, and participated in several local plays. She also had a beautiful voice and enjoyed singing on stage, and in the church choir. She played the ukulele and sang at many social functions. She was very well known in her community. Nancy was a 20-year member of the Girl Scout Council and a Member of the Lincoln Illinois Community Theater and Lincoln College Radio. She enjoyed reading and listening to Chicago Cubs games. She will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by two children, Hope Maria Sheley and Perry Michael Sheley; her parents, Edith and Al Even; her brother, Tom; and her husbands, Richard Sheley and Ted Long. Memorials may be made to the Ronald McDonald House.
