Nancy Scheveck Obituary
Nancy Scheveck

Nancy Scheveck, 56, received her angel's wings January 30, 2016.

Nancy Renae (Dokken) Scheveck was born on April 10, 1959 in Northwood, North Dakota, to Anna-Mae (Ostlie) and Orville Dokken. She and her brother Rod were raised in Northwood where Nancy graduated from Northwood High School in 1977. Nancy ventured off to further her education in Minot, ND, where she graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education, with a minor in Special Education from Minot College in 1981.

Nancy married Grant (Kelly) Scheveck on September 20, 1986, in Northwood, ND. Nancy and Grant moved to Sioux Falls, SD in 1987. Nancy gave birth to her first son Nathan on February 4, 1988. Her second son, Kyle, was born on January 29, 1990. Both boys were born in Sioux Falls. Nancy divorced Grant in 1991.

As a single mother, Nancy's sons were her life blood and you can only imagine how much she loved them. In 1994, with new found strength and courage, Nancy and the boys moved into their own new house and the pride was written all over her face. Nancy could not believe she would ever own her own home. She was JAZZED!! Nancy worked as an interpreter for the hearing impaired, in the Sioux Falls School District. She instantly became a part of the District's family and was loved by all her students and co-workers. Nancy made another change and extended her already over abundant family when she started working for the Harrisburg School District. Her relationships with the teachers, students and fellow interpreters was PRICELESS!!!

Nancy had a heart of GOLD, everyone knew it and she had an e-mail address to prove it. [email protected] AOL.COM. It was really made up because of her blonde hair color and the first 3 letters of her maiden name Dokken. Even though it was a coincidence, it was most appropriate for her!!

Nancy played basketball and was a cheerleader in High School. She looked forward to interpreting for ball games of all sorts, just to stay in the action. She enjoyed the outdoors, loved to be on the water, fishing and swimming. As a lover of animals, she had many dogs and cats and could never let an animal go stray. Kali and Loki were her last dogs and the companionship they gave her was a true testament to "Women's best friend". Nancy also loved to be in her yard and wanted to plant tulips all over because they were her favorite flower. She provided communication, love and kindness to many with her fast action hands and said numerous times that the classroom was where she felt most comfortable and where she did her best work. All would agree!!

Many people were blessed to have been touched by Nancy. Most grateful for having her in their lives are her brother Rod Dokken and his wife Connie, her two sons Nathan and Kyle and her best and forever friend Darcey McConnell.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents AnnaMae and Orville.

Her family appreciates all the thoughts, prayers and assistance given to Nancy during her journey to see her Lord!! Nancy knew how much each of you cared!!

Arrangements are pending with Heritage Funeral Home.
