TRIPP - Norma Jean Konrad, 85, passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at the Good Samaritan Center in Tripp. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Emmaus Lutheran Church in Tripp. Burial will follow at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Kaylor. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. on Tuesday with a prayer service at 4 p.m. at Emmaus Lutheran Church. Arrangements under the direction of Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Parkston.

Norma Jean Konrad was born March 18, 1931 at home in Tripp, South Dakota to Otto and Helen (Heinrich) Schnabel. She attended rural elementary school, and graduated from Tripp High School in 1949. She was united in marriage to Clifford Konrad on November 26, 1950. They spent several years farming in South Dakota and Minnesota before moving to Mitchell, South Dakota in 1968. While in Mitchell, Norma worked as a bookkeeper at Western Chevrolet, Feinstein's, and the Davison County Highway Department. As a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Parkston and Zion Lutheran Church in Mitchell, she taught Sunday School, was active in LWML, and served as the chairperson of the Altar Guild for twelve years.

To say she loved gardening was almost an understatement. Many friends and family benefited for years from Norma's incredible garden. In their retirement years Cliff and Norma moved to their home community of Kaylor, where they enjoyed the company of family and friends.

Those who will cherish her memory are her four children: Kathryn (Ron) Olson of Sioux Falls, SD, Paul (Laurie) Konrad of Estelline, SD, Daniel (Diane) Konrad of Winchester, TN, and Joan (Dennis) Mercer of Catonsville, MD; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Clifford in 2014; her brother, Harvey Schnabel and her sister, LaRue Heinert.
