Opal Edrie Omanson, 97, of Sioux Falls, passed away peacefully in Salem on Saturday, December 3, 2016. Opal was born November 15, 1919, on the family farm near Winfred, SD to Edward and Anna Palmquist. As a young girl, Opal accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at Sun Prairie Baptist Church. She graduated from Winfred High School and went on to attend Bethel College in St. Paul, MN. In 1946, Opal married Ralph L. Omanson in San Diego, CA. After WWII, they returned to SD where they farmed until moving to Sioux Falls in 1972. Opal and Ralph then became charter members of Faith Baptist Fellowship in Sioux Falls.

Opal is survived by her daughters, Priscilla (Bob) Hansen of Salem, SD and Camilla Aker of Worthington, MN; her five grandchildren, Amy (Trent) Sabers, Marshall (Holly) Hansen, Anna (Jonathan) Mahlberg, Anthony (Kelly) Aker, and Austin (Yasmine) Aker; her eight great-grandchildren Lilly, Claire, Wilson and Greta Edrie Mahlberg, Mason, Andrew, and Katie Jo Sabers, Caleb and on-the-way baby girl Hansen; a sister, Pearl Edythe Johnson of Madison, SD; and sisters-in-law, Ruth (Palmquist) Widboom of Sioux Falls, Lucille (Palmquist) Mohn of Sun City West, AZ, and Edith and Fern Omanson of Sioux Falls. Opal was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sisters, Juanita Ferguson, Ruby Norberg, and LuVerne Iverson; brothers, Gordon, George, and LeRoy Palmquist; and son-in-law, Timothy Aker.

Funeral services will begin 11 AM, Thursday, December 8 at Sun Prairie Baptist Church, rural Salem. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service. www.kinzleyfh.com
