Richard Krenz

Richard Lee Krenz died April 26, 2017, at Dougherty Hospice in Sioux Falls, SD, with his wife Mary at his side. He was 67.

He was born April 12, 1950 to Carl and Ruth Krenz. He attended Lewisville Public School and graduated from Truman High School in 1968.

Richard farmed in Minnesota and raised hog for many years. He retired on disability around 2002.

He was united in marriage with Mary Firchau on January 1, 2007. They lived in Brandon, SD, until 2012, and then moved to De Smet, SD, and lived at their home on Lake Thompson.

He enjoyed his grandchildren when they came to the lake. He would be seen miles from home riding his golf cart around the lake. Everyone would know it by the guy who drove on the wrong side of the cart. Many times he was seen with Lucy or Marly (his four-legged grandchildren) sitting behind the wheel.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Mary, De Smet, SD; step-children David, Prairie du Chien, WI, and his son Alex; JoAnn Widrig, her husband Bill, Valley Springs, SD, and their children Quentin, Rapid City, SD, daughter Emili and son Jimmy, Valley Springs, SD; sisters Deloris and her husband James, Lake Havasu, AZ, LaVonne and her husband Bob, Lake Havasu, AZ, Lois and her husband Jimmy, Fairmont, MN, Carolyn, Des Moines, IA; brother Arnie and his wife Janice, Mankato, MN; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Dwayne and Lester.

The family will be hosting a celebration of Richard's life on August 12, 2017, at the Lewisville Legion Hall.
