Robert Houser Obituary
Robert Houser

Our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Robert Paul "Bob" Houser, longtime resident of Sioux Falls, SD, died peacefully from natural causes at the Centre Avenue Health and Rehab Facility in Fort Collins, Colorado on Saturday, December 26, 2015. He was born on November 23, 1933 in Oklahoma City to Paul and Charlotte Houser. The young family moved back to their hometown of Davenport, IA where Bob spent most of his childhood years, then relocated to Sioux Falls where he attended Washington High School (1951). Bob received a bachelors degree in business from the University of Colorado, Boulder (1955). After college Bob was commissioned as an intelligence officer in the U.S. Navy, serving on an aircraft carrier in the South Pacific. Upon release from the Navy, Bob settled in San Francisco and worked for General Electric and IBM. Bob was an avid hiker and adventurer, taking three months between jobs at GE and IBM to hitchhike around Europe. He was married to Elizabeth (Betsy) Brackbill in 1964 in San Francisco. Bob and Betsy moved to Sioux Falls where Bob joined his father in business at Dakota Business Machines. Bob and Betsy moved to Fort Collins to be closer to family in 2014. Bob is proceeded in death by his parents, Paul and Charlotte Houser, and his brother Richard (Dick) Houser. He is survived by his wife Betsy, children Bob Houser Jr. (Barbara), Deborah Houser (Melinda Belcher), and Linda Marko (Shaun), and grandchildren Emily, Suzanne, and Thomas Houser, and Claire and Maggie Marko. A memorial service will be held in Sioux Falls, SD in the late spring of 2016. The family requests that donations to the Rocky Mountain Conservancy be considered in lieu of flowers, in care of Allnutt Funeral Service, 650 W. Drake Road, Fort Collins, CO 80526.
