Serena de Bellis, age 88, of Sioux Falls, died on Monday, February 6, 2017 at the Dow Rummel Village in Sioux Falls.

According to Serena's final wishes, she requested no memorial service to be held. Inurnment will be at a later date in Graceland Cemetery, Madison, SD. Arrangements are with Weiland Funeral Chapel of Madison.

Serena Jane (Rubin) de Bellis was born in Madison, SD, the daughter of Madison band-master and high- school music teacher John Rubin and Luella (Uthe) Rubin. From age 6, she was a violinist and studied music and music librarianship in Boston. She was the music librarian in Quincy, MA & Portland, OR. In 1962, she married Frank V. de Bellis of San Francisco and lived there until 1994. Serena was the curator of a library/museum of Italian cultural history donated to San Francisco State University by Mr. de Bellis in 1963. She was twice honored by the Italian government for her contributions to Italian cultural history. Serena was active in San Francisco in the world of music and books. In 1994, she retired and moved to Sioux Falls, SD.

She is survived by her nephew, Richard John Kachel of Madison, TN and her niece, Pamela Jean Kachel of Costa Mesa, CA.

Preceding her in death was her parents, John & Luella; husband, Frank and sister, Beverly Rubin Kachel.
