Shirley Seaman, 72, of Sioux Falls, died Sunday, October 16, 2016 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.

Shirley A. Hardies was born July 8, 1944 to William and Anna (Erks) Hardies in Pipestone, MN. She grew up in Pipestone where she received her education, graduating from Pipestone High School in 1963. While living in Pipestone, Shirley worked for Marigold Dairy.

On September 4, 1965, she was united in marriage with Marlen "Spike" Seaman in Pipestone. Following their marriage, the couple moved to Sioux Falls where Shirley worked as a bookkeeper for Ford Motor Credit. She took time away from the workforce to raise her daughter, Shelley. She later re-entered the workforce where she had a very successful Avon sales business. More recently, Shirley worked for Sioux Vocational Services (Lifescapes) in Sioux Falls until she became disabled with MS in 1992.

She was an active member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church where she participated in church activities such as Circle and Guild. She also enjoyed doing ceramics, baking and canning.

Grateful for having shared her life are her daughter, Shelley (Sam) Connelly of Sioux Falls, SD; and her grandson, Hudson Connelly. She was preceded in death by her husband on October 4, 2013; and her parents.

Funeral services will begin 1:00 pm Friday at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 5:30-7:30 pm Thursday at Miller Funeral Home, Westside Chapel, with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 pm.

The family requests that memorials be directed to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, or to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
