Venita F. Selby was born on April 13, 1917 to Lloyd and Gladys Selby in Elk Point, South Dakota. She spent her childhood and early years in Elk Point where she attended Elk Point schools. In 1937 she married Lester B. Larson on March 10th. Born to this marriage were two sons, Larry D. Larson and Robert C. Larson. The Larson's lived in Watertown, Huron, Pipestone, Sioux Falls, and Aberdeen during their forty-two year marriage. She was a lifelong member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church. Her husband Lester passed away in 1979. In the ensuing years Mrs. Larson married Chancy Olthoff on May 1, 1989. The couple moved from Sioux Falls to Mesa, Arizona in 1997.

Mrs. Olthoff loved playing bridge and mah-jongg. An expert at both, she taught classes in each.

Mrs. Olthoff was preceded in death by her husband Lester Larson, her sons Robert and Larry, her sister Delores, her beloved aunt Bernice Gilkison, her half-brother Orin Selby, and her parents.

She is survived by her husband Chancy Olthoff, her grandson Eric Larson and his family, her grandson David Larson and his family, her grandson Wade Larson and his family, her grandson Chad Larson and granddaughter Shelly Larson, her stepdaughter Pam Bayha and her husband Brian and their children Matthew and Kathryn, her stepson Rev. Terry Olthoff and his wife Renee and their children Christopher and Andrea, her daughter-in-law Jonnie Larson, her daughter-in-law Sandy Larson and her two cousins Donna Knutson and Julie Roach. She also leaves behind 10 great grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. Services will be held 10:00 am Tuesday, December 8th at Miller Funeral Home, Main Avenue location in Sioux Falls with Burial at Brule Creek Cemetery near Elk Point. Visitation with the family will be from 5:00-6:00 pm Monday at the funeral home.
