Warren D. Nelsen

Warren Dale Nelsen, 89 of Sioux Falls, SD died on Wednesday, March 8, 2017.

Warren was born in Irene, SD on May 4th, 1927 to Mabel (Petersen) and Hans Nelsen. In 1929 he moved with his family to Sioux Falls, SD. In 1946 he graduated from Washington High School and began his career at First National Bank in Sioux Falls. He received his degree in Commercial Banking from the American Institute of Banking School as well as a diploma from the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin. In 1986 the South Dakota Bankers Association recognized Warren for his 40 years of service to community banking and his many civic endeavors. After 45 years he retired from First National Bank in 1990.

In 1946 he met the love of his life, Anita Mae Hepp, and they were married on November 2nd of that year. They enjoyed 65 wonderful years together before Anita passed away in 2012.

Warren was an active member of many service and fraternal organizations including the Sioux Falls Jaycees, the Daybreak Kiwanis Club, the Elks Club, the El Riad Shrine, the Scottish Rite and Masonic Trinity Lodge 200.

He is survived by his daughter Deborah Nelsen and her husband Hubert Boussard of Sioux Falls, SD, daughter Justine Lieurance and her husband Daniel Lieurance of Cedar Rapids, IA., granddaughter Lauren Zimmer and her husband Brian Zimmer of Dubuque, IA., sisters Lucile Aschoff and Shirley Nesheim as well as several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held from 1:00-3:00 pm Thursday, May 4th at Miller Funeral Home, 507 South Main Ave. .

The family requests memorials be directed to the in Minneapolis, MN.
