Dr. William (Bill) G.M. Huet, formerly of Huron, SD, passed away Monday March 20th, 2017 in Sioux Falls after a long battle with Parkinson's. Visitation with his family present will be from 12:00 pm until his funeral mass at 2pm on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Holy Spirit Catholic Parish in Sioux Falls. A reception with light refreshments will be held immediately following the funeral mass at Holy Spirit Parish. A second visitation with the family present will be from 12:00-1:45 pm on Friday, March 24th at the Welter Funeral Home in Huron followed by interment at 2pm at St. Martin's Cemetery in Huron. A reception with light refreshments will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish in Huron immediately following the committal service.

He was born March 29, 1928 in Mexico City to Guillermo and Dolores Huet.

Dr. Huet graduated from medical school in Mexico and came to Fresno, California for his internship. There he met Rachel Rita Jimenez who became his wife of 61 years. He then went to Mount Sinai Hospital in Chicago, Illinois where he became Chief Resident of Radiology. He spent his professional life practicing radiology and diagnostic imaging in Huron, South Dakota. Dr. Huet was an avid hobbyist and enjoyed many diverse activities. His greatest joy was photography but he also loved gun and military memorabilia collecting. He was a well known figure at local gun shows. He and Rachel went on many photography trips and he won numerous awards for his photos. He was also a longtime member of the Huron Photography club and in spite of failing vision spent many years helping with the newsletter and other club activities. Dr. Huet was passionate about being a good husband and provider and was a loving and attentive father. No one can remember him ever missing a day of work. Those who knew him can attest to his unique sense of humor and extraordinary generosity. He literally touched the lives of people from around the world. Dr. Huet was tireless in his pursuit of excellence in his chosen profession. He was elected President of the South Dakota Medical Association and achieved the status of Fellow of the American College of Radiology. He constantly embraced new technology and encouraged others around him to do the same. Despite suffering from medical problems at the end of his life he was the epitome of dignity and courage. He remained a loving father and husband regardless of his condition. Many of his caregivers noted his positive disposition and how easy he made it for everyone around him. He leaves behind a legacy of compassion, generosity, and love that will forever touch the lives of those he had to leave behind. May he rest in peace and bask in the glory of God's love and mercy.

He is survived by his wife Rachel Jimenez Huet, sister Linda Huet Nieto of Mexico, children Diane (Kevin) Huet Kalkman of Huron, SD; William J. (Kristie) Huet of Sioux Falls, SD; Anthony M. (Beverley) Huet of Coppell, TX; R. Robin (Bob) Linneman of Clark, SD; Lorraine (Dan) Huet-Holm of Sioux Falls, SD; and David N. (Kim) Huet of Sioux Falls, SD. In addition to his wife and children his is survived by 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
