Kyle T. Hurd

Kyle Hurd, 25, of Stillwater, MN, died unexpectedly on January 24, 2013, after suffering a tragic accident in his home.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 30 from 4 to 8 pm at Bradshaw Celebration of Life Center in Stillwater, MN.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 31 at 1pm, with visitation commencing at 12pm at Bradshaw Celebration of Life Center in Stillwater. Casket bearers will be Gary Kirby, Nathaniel Adkins, Matt Stiff, Timothy Garavalia, Nathan Olafson and Jeff Olafson. Interment will be immediately following in Stillwater. All are invited to attend.

Kyle Thomas Hurd was born on January 30, 1987, and was the beloved son of Thomas and Patricia Hurd, and the cherished brother to Ashlie Hurd. He lived in and attended school in Pipestone, MN, where he was active in taekwondo and loved to skateboard with his friends. At the age of 13, he moved to Stillwater, MN, where he graduated from high school and attended Century College, studying auto mechanics.

For many years, Kyle's passions included repairing and modifying vehicles, especially with his friends. He forged many strong friendships in Stillwater and created many notable memories with them. He truly considered his friends to be a part of his extended family. Kyle also loved spending time with his sister, and held her very close to his heart. They took great joy in sharing many family vacations together, with two of the most recent being in Las Vegas and in Disney World.

For several construction seasons, Kyle enjoyed working with his father at H and W Contracting in Sioux Falls, SD. He then moved on to find a new passion in carpentry in Stillwater.

Kyle is preceded in death by his grandparents Richard and Shirley Brennan, and Leah Hurd. He is survived by his sister, Ashlie Hurd, of Sioux Falls, SD, his mother, Patricia Hurd of Stillwater, MN, his father, Thomas Hurd and Sonya Bernardino and her two sons, Stefan and Jordan, all of Sioux Falls, SD, and his grandfather, Darwin Hurd of Pipestone, MN.

With great honor, Kyle was an organ and tissue donor, saving up to nine lives with his organs, and touching many more lives with his tissue. The family would like to express their gratitude to the caring professionals of Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN for all of their time, energy and support for Kyle and his family. A memorial fund in memory of Kyle is being created to benefit mental health research and treatment, and suicide awareness and prevention.

Kyle,
I think about you every day. I am so sorry I wasn´t around for your last years. You were my best friend when I didn´t have anyone. You taught me a lot and we had so much fun. I want to call in drunk and go on a field trip with you. I miss the great times we had and I wish we could still have them. When I last saw you I wish that I could remember it better, and I wish that I could hear your voice one more time. You will always be in my thoughts and I know you are in a better place. Peace, Mat

This message is from Rick Esparza: First time I met Kyle was when he was in elementry school in pipestone, MN. I was helping Tom move into a new home, i was in Kyle's room taking his bedroom set apart and Kyle came into his room after school and wanted to know "WHO ARE YOU AND WHERE DO YOU THINK YOU ARE GOING WITH MY BED" I explained to Kyle that he was moving to a new house and all he wanted to know was if i was going to be able to put it back together the way it was! LOL. Years pasted and once Kyle grew up , I was able to get to know him not only has a Co-worker but also a good Friend. He then moved across the street from me here in SF, we really got to know each other and whenever Kyle needed a helping hand he always new he could count on me! I will MISS HIM DEARLY,FOREVER YOUR FRIEND (FELLA) nickname kyle had given me. My prayers and thoughts go out to you Tom and Pat!
