Charles "Tom" Catron

Charles (Tom) Thomas Catron, age 66, of Sioux Falls, SD passed away on Wednesday, March 13 at Veteran's Memorial Hospital following a six month battle with brain cancer. A private memorial service will be held in Emery, SD. Internment will be at Black Hills National Cemetery.

Charles Thomas Catron was born on October 9, 1946 to parents Earl and Mildred (Leischner) Catron. His military time was served in the Navy. He studied electrical construction at Mitchell Technical Institute and became a licensed Journeyman Electrician. He worked for Baumgartner Electric in Sioux Falls and later worked for Rochester Armored Car Co Inc., also in Sioux Falls.

An avid passion for the outdoors describes Tom best. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, gold prospecting, geocaching, gardening and feeding his birds.

Tom is survived by his brother and 3 sisters: Bev Nelsen, Benson, NC; Jack (Theresa) Catron, Emery, SD; Barb Osterloo, Aberdeen, SD; and Janice Catron, Mitchell, SD; 5 children: Sean Catron, Farmington, MN; Shannon (Scott) Kortan, Gregory, SD; Thomas (Caroline) Catron, Lebanon, PA; Chuck Brookens, Rapid City, SD; Crystal Brookens, Rapid City, SD; 8 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter.
