Lucile "Pat" Briggs, 94, died in Omaha, Nebraska on February 22, 2017. Private family services will be held at a later date. Interment will take place at Hills of Rest Cemetery in Sioux Falls. A public visitation with family present to greet friends will be 5:00 p.m., until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 28, 2017, at George Boom Funeral Home & Crematory, Sioux Falls.

Pat was born in 1922 in George, Iowa to Enno and Elizabeth Spieker. After graduating in George, Iowa, Pat moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota and was employed as a telephone operator at Northwestern Bell Telephone Company. In 1947, she was united in marriage to Russell Briggs.

Together Pat and Russ owned and operated Russ' Café (Hava Java) located on the corner of 9th and Phillips for over 25 years. They retired from the restaurant business in 1977, after which they worked in the rod and drapery Installation business for nearly 10 years. Pat derived pleasure from giving of her time and talent to several charitable organizations in Sioux Falls, such as Berakah House, Children's Inn and Presentation Children's Home. For several years she assisted Russ as he conducted pie-baking demonstrations at schools, state and county fairs and churches. Russ and Pat retired to Omaha, Nebraska in 2006.

Throughout their 59 years of marriage, Pat was a dedicated wife, companion and co-worker and never left Russ' side. Grateful for having shared her life are her son Bob (Diane) Briggs, Omaha, Nebraska; her daughter Bev (Joseph) McBrearty, Philadelphia, PA; four grandchildren, Joshua (Kali) Briggs, Jenna Briggs, Michael McBrearty and Lisa McBrearty; and two great granddaughters, Ellie Briggs and Emma Briggs. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and seven sisters.
