Dane K. Christiansen, 53, died Saturday, October 29, at a friend's house in Athens. Born on November 24, 1962 in Louisville, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Eric and Audrey (Joan) Peck Christiansen.
A 1981 graduate of Eastwood High School, he later attended Ohio University where he majored in art. He spent several years working at two Athens restaurants, Seven Sauces and Zoe. At the time of his death, he was employed at Echoing Meadows as a dietary aide.
He is survived by two children, Boone Kenton and Melody Rain, both of Athens; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Valerie and Jim Davis of Maumee and Lisa and Lonnie Shuey of Fremont; a brother, Brion Christiansen of Toledo; a nephew, David Shuey; two nieces, Ariel Nearhood and Aubrey Marsden; a great niece and nephew, Willa Mae and George Marsden; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a infant brother, Eric Christiansen.
He loved art, books and music, but he also loved sports, NASCAR and sprint cars. He was, as a friend put it, "a unique and clever soul," and he will truly be missed by those who loved him.
A memorial service for friends and family to attend will be announced at a later date.
