INDIANAPOLIS- Margaret Soltow of Indianapolis, formerly of Athens, passed away peacefully early August 14, 2016 at Brookdale Senior Living in Indianapolis, just five days shy of her 90th birthday.
She was born August 19, 1926 in Princeton, Illinois. She was the daughter of the Rev. Otto Wonn and Irene Wonn. She grew up in Brandon and Watertown Wisconsin. After graduating from Watertown High School, she worked in a World War II munitions plant and attended medical technician training in Madison Wisconsin. She graduated from Ohio University with a degree in Art History.
After raising her children she worked many years as a medical technician at the Ohio University Student Health Center.
She enjoyed music, art, gardening, volunteering at O'Bleness Hospital, and keeping up with the news. She and husband Lee enjoyed traveling to many parts of the world and living overseas, in Norway, Nigeria, and Malaysia.
She will be remembered for her thoughtfulness toward others, and especially for her generosity.
Margaret is survived by her sister Lois Carson of Roseville, CA, her daughters Ellen Soltow of Burke, Virginia; Nedra Soltow, MD of Indianapolis, Indiana; son Mark Soltow (Louise) of Seattle, Washington; four grandchildren- Gavin Soltow of Burke, Virginia; Caroline Soltow of Athens; Rebecca Soltow of Seattle, Washington; and Jeremy Soltow of Seattle, Washington.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Armin Wonn; brother-in law Robert Carson; sister-in-law Barbara Stoll; brother in-law Walter Stoll; and her husband of 55 years, Lee Soltow.
Memorial services will be Saturday, August 27 at 10:00 AM at Christ Lutheran Church in Athens. Pastor Lynn Miller will be officiating. There will be a reception at the Church following the memorial, and Margaret will be laid to rest at Athens Cemetery. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Flanner and Buchanan- Zionsville, IN.
