William Roberts

ATHENS - William (Bill) Roberts, born Aug. 11, 1927, passed away April 15, 2016, at Kimes Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Bill was preceded in death by his parents Earl and Phyllis Roberts and his grandparents William and Nona Craft. He is survived by his wife of 67 years Lois Roberts; a son Michael and daughter Lisa Santelli (George); grandchildren, Jared Roberts, Bradley Santelli and Kendl Santelli; a half brother Michael (Sandy) Dillon; several nephews and nieces and many good friends.

He was a graduate of Glouster High School and served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Bonhomme Richard Aircraft Carrier. He was employed in the printing business for a number of years at the McBee Company and Lawhead Press. He also owned and operated a carpet cleaning business. He was a member of the Alexander Presbyterian Church and served as a Session member for a number of years, The Paramuthia Lodge #25, F & A.M., Athens Senior Club, Silver Spurs Line Dancers, and Senior Beat. He had been an active volunteer for the American Red Cross Blood Mobile for many years. He enjoyed tennis, golf, dancing and chair volleyball.

A celebration of Bill's life will be held at the Athens Community Center, 701 E. State St., Athens, Ohio on June 11 from 2-4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alexander Presbyterian Church. The Roberts family is very grateful for the support and assistance offered by so many friends and the care provided by the OhioHealth O'Bleness Hospital and Kimes Nursing and Rehab Center.
