HOUSER, Betsy Evans Oct. 3, 1925 Dec. 11, 2017 Betsy Houser has passed away peacefully in Atlanta, GA, at the age of 92. Betsy is survived by her daughter, Susan K. Houser, of Chapel Hill, NC; and her son, Matthew R. Houser, and daughter-in-law, Raidy S. Houser, of Peachtree Corners, GA. She is preceded in death by her husband, Fred Richard (Dick) Houser; and her son, Richard Carson Houser. Kentucky native and long-time resident, and Florida retiree, Betsy was many things: a much-loved wife, mother and mother-in-law; sister; sister-in-law; aunt; friend; two-time college student; volunteer with Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts and the PTA; real estate agent and broker; artisan, making hand-braided rugs; and author of Summer is Her Name, a fictional work steeped in the surroundings and personalities from her childhood in Ashland, Kentucky. She loved dancing and politics, though not necessarily at the same time, and was an avid reader, and an accomplished bridge player. Betsy was bright, inquisitive, engaged and engaging, and will be dearly missed. A private family service will be held in Kentucky. (Thoughts and remembrances are welcome. I was so sorry to hear about Betsy. I corresponded with her quite a bit when I was doing genealogy research on our common Ashland, Ky families. She helped me a lot with my research. My condolences to all of the family.

My husband and I knew Betsy when she lived in Florida. We considered Betsy a dear friend and have missed her greatly since she and Dick moved away.
Betsy was an intelligent, thoughtful, soft-spoken, kind, and tenacious lady who had a twinkle in her eye and a mischievous grin. Our sympathies to her family. Our lives are better having known her.
