Ganell CHANDLER Obituary

Family-Placed Death Notice

CHANDLER, Ganell Ganell Jarrett Chandler, 93, of Suwanee, Georgia, passed away on May 1, 2013. She was born to Mr. & Mrs. W. O. (Ether Collins) Jarrett of the Harmony Community of rural Hall County on December 3, 1919, the fourth of five daughters affectionately known all their lives as the "Jarrett girls". After graduation from Gainesville High School, she received her nursing degree from Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee. During World War II she married Richard Chandler of the Tadmore Community of Hall County. Upon Richard's return from Europe at the end of the war, they moved to the Chamblee/Doraville area and she began her nursing career as Dr. W. A. Medenhall's nurse at the Chamblee Clinic. Over her career she served at Emory Hospital, at the VA Hospital, as a private duty nurse and as Director of Nursing for various nursing homes until she retired at age 70. Upon Richard's retirement from General Motors at Doraville, they moved to Duluth. They joined Mt. Tabor Baptist Church and Ganell remained a faithful and loyal member for over 40 years until her death. Next to her family, Mt. Tabor and its congregation was the love of her life. She particularly loved her travels with the senior adults of her church and other local churches. In 1988, Richard and Ganell moved to Suwanee and she remained in their home until last year when she moved to Plantation South Assisted Living in Duluth. She was a beautiful southern lady who lived her life with joy and kindness. She was a great southern cook and she loved to garden in the woods surrounding her Suwanee home. While in Suwanee, she was a member of the Stonehedge Garden Club. She was a great wife, mother, grandmother, loving aunt and sister, compassionate nurse and faithful friend. She will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Rick and Nancy Chandler of Suwanee, Georgia; granddaughter Elizabeth Chandler Bilton and husband James of Dallas, Texas; dear friend Gay Gober of Suwanee; and several beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by Richard, her husband of 52 years and her four sisters, Gladys Jarrett (Bill) Stowe, Grace Jarrett (N. C.) Marlowe, Gussie Jarrett (Willard) Smith and Geraldine Jarrett (W. D.) Pennington. The family wants to thank the caregivers for their compassion and kindness shown Ganell over the last five years; Jennie Bradberry, Elise Bennett and Debbie Clayborn, the staff at Plantation South Assisted Living in Duluth and, most recently, the staff at Gwinnett Extended Care Center in Lawrenceville. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 5, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Rev. David Lyle officiating. There will be a private burial at Harmony Hall Baptist Church, Gainesville, Georgia. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, May 4, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ganell Chandler can be made to Mt. It is comforting to know that Jesus, the Ruler of God's Kingdom, is called the “Prince of Peace,” and he will ensure that “to peace there will be no end.”—Isaiah 9:6, 7.

I am so very sorry for your great loss. Please find comfort in Gods words at Romans 15:5 where He tells us He does not forget our fine works. She had many! Again, my deepest sympathies.
