ROGERS, John John Rudolph Rogers, 69, of East Point, GA passed away on March 17, 2014. As a younger man, before incurring various health problems, John served one Army tour in Vietnam, from which he was honorably discharged with a Purple Heart, a Bronze Star, and The Army Commendation Medal. He later obtained a degree from Atlanta Law School. John is survived by his brother, William Rogers (Shirley); aunts, Joyce McKennie and Madelene Edwards; nephews, Courtney Luttery and Kevin Luttery; nieces, Kimberley Rogers Sanders (Greg), Carmen Dawson (Arlando), Kelley Rogers, Ashleigh Luttery and Alexandria Luttery, in addition to a host of cousins. John is preceded in death by his father and mother, Ivory and Irma Rogers, and his sister, Barbara Luttery. Viewing of the body will take place at Willie Watkins Funeral Home on Friday, March 21, from 2 p.m until 8 p.m. John will receive his Homegoing services at New Emmanuel Baptist Church, 2055 Fairburn Road, SW, Atlanta, GA 30331, Rev. Parnell Mosley officiating, on Saturday, March 22, at 11:00 a.m.
