Family-Placed Death Notice

ANDRE, Saylors Joseph Saylors Joseph Andre, 92, of East Point, GA passed away Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at Christian City ALF in Union City. He was born in Charenton, Louisiana on June 12, 1920 to William and Ella Saylors Andre. He grew up in Savannah and attended school at Savannah High School and attended West Point Preparatory School. Saylors was a World War II and Korean War Veteran. He was a longtime member of East Point First Mallalieu United Methodist Church, a lifetime member of the Building Owners and Managers Association where served as President of the Regional Atlanta Association. He was also a member of American Legion Post #145. Saylors worked for GA Power Company for 39 years serving in several positions including manager of the Atlanta Central District and retired as Assistant to the Vice President of the Atlanta Division. He is preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Anne Oliver Andre. He is survived by his 3 sons, Gary S. Andre of Conyers, Randy L. Andre of Lawrenceville, and William "Bill" D. Andre of Dacula; 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ellie Morrison of Maitland, FL, Mary McHugh of Altamonte Springs, FL.; sister-in- law, Betsy Oliver of Macon, GA; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at 11:30 am at Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home, 2968 East Point Street, East Point, Georgia 30344. Reverend Minnie Robinson will officiate. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening, December 3, 2012 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Christian City (Seniors) at 7345 Red Oak Road, Union City, GA 30291.
