Jon Alan AXELBERG

1944 - 2015

AXELBERG, Jon Alan Jon Alan Axelberg, 71, passed away in the early hours of Monday, Aug. 10. Son of the late Howard G. and Betty Axelberg, he was a graduate of Sandy Springs High School and Oglethorpe University and had a long career with Fulton National Bank (later Bank South) before becoming a certified financial planner. Jon was friendly and open-hearted. He loved family; loved using (meticulously) the carpentry skills he learned from his Uncle Jack from an early age; loved losing himself in a good thriller; loved travel - which didn't need to be exotic to be enjoyable, with High Hampton one favorite "old school" destination; loved gastronomy as long as it was practiced by someone else and he was the beneficiary ... and most definitely loved the succession of four-footed companions who made his life that much better. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marie Scull Axelberg; brother Stephen Axelberg; sister Elizabeth Axelberg (Tina); niece Rachel Rowell (Troy); nephew Marc Scull; grand-nephews Caleb and Eli Rowell; Guy and Liz Scull; Andrew Noble and son Matthew; and Jill Noble. The family wishes to thank Obi, Christo and A.J. of HisGrip Home Care and Heather Bailey of Crossroads Hospice for their loving care of Jon in his final months, as well as very dear friends Mary Ross Bonds, Joy and Bob Povenz, Linda Lockhart, and other longtime friends.
