Family-Placed Death Notice

POLLARD, Robert Rev. Robert Andrew Pollard was born into a Quaker family and grew up in Ohio and Pennsylvania. He was valedictorian of his high school class, and earned his Phi Beta Kappa key as he graduated from Allegheny College. He was ordained after his seminary training at Drew University, and also earned a master's degree in educational administration from Columbia University. For many years he was pastor of churches in the New York Conference of the United Methodist Church, and also chaired the Board of Pensions for the conference. After retirement in 1981, he served as Minister of Visitation of the Snellville United Methodist Church for several years. More recently, he enjoyed many activities at the Park Springs retirement community. Rev. Pollard is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dorothy Pomel Pollard. He also leaves a son Robert Andrew Pollard Jr. and his wife Karen of Huntsville, AL, and another son Raymond John Pollard of Greenlawn, NY. His grandchildren are Scott Pollard and his wife Wendi of Alabama, David Pollard and his wife Hannah of Missouri, and Julie Pollard of New York. His great-grandchildren are Ryan, Katie, Rachel and Sara Grace. Rev. Pollard was a kind and compassionate man who will be missed by many. "Well done, good and faithful servant." Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 19, 2008 at 10am at the Community Hall at Park Springs Retirement Community. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Rev.
