Beverly McDonald Obituary
Family-Placed Death Notice
McDONALD, Beverly Mrs. Beverly Whatley McDonald passed on June 9, 2010 in Oakland, CA after a brief illness. She is preceded in death by her parents, Plemon and Jeanette Whatley, and her husband, Lester McDonald. Beverly graduated from Booker T. Washington High '59, Spelman College '64, studied at the Univ. of Norway and earned her Master's Degree in Math from Michigan State Univ. She served as the Director of the Office of the President at the Univ. of California-Berkeley until retiring in 2004. A more intelligent and loving person would be difficult to find or imagine. Beverly is survived by her daughter, Keisha, her son, Kevin, his wife Carmen, their son Khalil, brother, Imam Plemon El-Amin, and the entire Whatley, McDonald, Hubert, and El-Amin families. A Memorial Service for Beverly and her recently deceased sister, JoAnn Whatley, will be held at 10am on Saturday, July 31st, at Providence Missionary Baptist Church, 2295 Benjamin E. Mays Drive SW, Atl. 30311. Young Funeral Home 1107 Hank Aaron Drive (404) 523-6606.
