Anna NORRIS Obituary
NORRIS, Anna M. Anna M. Norris passed away October 20, two days after her 101st birthday. She was unique in her attitudes, blend of talents and accomplishments. Beautiful until the end, Anna was a life-long learner, proud of her Greek heritage, a world traveler, exercised daily and swam regularly into her 96th year. She enjoyed entertaining friends and many still talk about her culinary skills. An accomplished painter, Anna founded the Portrait Society of Atlanta in 1979. It is the oldest running organization of its type in the United States. She is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, architect Henry Norris, and by their daughter, Ni?a Norris, both of Atlanta, Georgia. Anna is survived by her daughter, Anita Norris of Hickory, N.C. and grandson, Allen Josey, his wife Toni and their children, Jacey and Sawyer all of Colchester, Vermont and by a sister, Athanasia Hrytzay of Miami, Florida. After living most her life in Atlanta's Buckhead community, Anna moved to Hickory to live closer to her daughter Anita. When recently asked about her secret to longevity, Anna's response was honest and simple "I haven't a clue." There will be a private service at which her remains will join her husband and daughter's at Atlanta's St. Phillips Cathedral. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell County at 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625. Condolences may be sent to the Norris family at www.drumfh-hickory.com. The Norris family has entrusted funeral arrangements to Drum Funeral Home & Cremations in Hickory, NC.
