DAVIS, Archie Archie Lawrence Davis, 83, passed away suddenly on September 11, 2017 at his sister's Duluth, Ga. Home. Born in Hall County, Ga. on January 3, 1934, to Roy and Myrtle Davis. He graduated from Georgia Military School and attended the University of Georgia. While at GMA he won a national intercollegiate boxing championship. In 1955 he married Janice Burel of Buford, Ga. They had three children, Kathy, Donna & Lee. They were later divorced. Archie worked in the automotive industry and in real estate. He loved sports and was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan. He was a member of Duluth First United Methodist Church and rarely missed a Sunday service. He also loved gardening and shared tomatoes with his many friends and family. He was a caring relative and a good friend to all, gladly doing errands and helping in any way he could. Archie is survived by his three children, Kathy Burnette(Jeff) of Buford, Ga., Donna Jones(Ricky) of Duluth, Ga. and Lee Davis of Buford, Ga. He is also survived by his sister, Jeanine Gullett of Duluth, Ga., several grandchildren, many other loving relatives and his beloved partner of 35 years, Shelby Shaffer of Lawrenceville, Ga. A visitation with family will be held on Wednesday evening , Sept. 13th from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Bill Head Funeral Home Duluth Chapel. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday September 14th at 1:00 PM at the chapel at Bill Head Funeral Home in Duluth, Ga. A private burial will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Archie's name to Duluth First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 699, Duluth, Ga. 30096. Online condolences may be sent by visiting
