Barbara KAYE Obituary
KAYE, Barbara S. Barbara S. Kaye, 84, passed on September 25, 2017. Barbara was born and grew up in Detroit, Michigan. She attended Wayne State University and moved to Atlanta in the early 1960's. Barbara's many interests included books, poetry, music, art, philosophy, physics and ping pong. Barbara did volunteer work as a career counselor with Atlanta Women on the Way, Volunteer Atlanta, and the High Museum of Art. She served on the original Board of The Dancers Collective. Barbara was a member of many book clubs and discussion groups. She loved all these things, but most of all she loved her children. Barbara is survived by son, Rick (Ray), who managed a Broadway theater for 33 years; her daughter, Debra (Roger), who is a composer and music teacher living in New York City; sister, Joan Saltz (Jack) of Purchase, NY, and brother, Bruce Seyburn (Denise) of West Bloomfield, MI. In her own words: When someone asks What - I do best, I always say - I like to play I ask MYSELF What I do best - Answering the same Well, playing the game It's acting - out It's lightening - up Without the thunder And heavy rain With freedom of thought, And mind-full of nought To see the moment: Before and Beyond With a play-ful fond-ness - and fun With matter not, and just forgot Okay, it's done Barbara was vibrant, strong, smart, playful, creative, rebellious, beautiful, and fearless. We love her so much, and will miss her more than we can say. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am on Friday, September 29, 2017 at H.M. Patterson & Son's Spring Hill Chapel with burial following at Arlington Memorial Park. The Kaye family will receive friends one hour before the funeral service.
