Barry JACOBS Obituary
JACOBS, Barry Barry Jacobs, 71, has died. His kidneys quit and that was that. He is survived by his brother, Ron and his step-son, Clay, and his four legged companion, Sydney the Cat. Barry's heart was with Shannon, his sweetheart, cohort and wife, who died in 2013. He spent most of his working life as an Information Technology headhunter, and before that was an English teacher. He had a lifelong fascination with words and language and took joy in the acrobatics of wordsmithy. Humor and wit enthralled him, and the intersection of insight and expression was always his destination. He was a consumer of books, good French wine (red), music, and movies and good food (mostly Thai lately). He liked travel and absolutely delighted in visiting art galleries and museums. He was a hobbyist shooter and before that an avid scuba diver. He defaulted toward being intellectual and enthused for the life of the mind, but could also be as pedestrian as a can of cheap beer. His three greatest achievements were: earning the love of a terrific group of friends-- he was perpetually blown away and deeply grateful for the love he received; finding profound contentment and happiness in many of life's most simple moments; and leaving here having (maybe) bumped up his humanity and karma a couple of notches. In lieu of a service, please listen to Steve Winwood's "Vacant Chair," dance around a little, and hoist one for Barry. In lieu of flowers, please give to a worthy cause. Love each other and be as kind as you can. Fischer Funeral Care, Atlanta, GA
