SOPER, Betty Barnes White "Kit" 1932-2017 Betty "Kit "Barnes White Soper passed away on November 16, 2017. She was born to Hazel Brock Barnes and Charlie W. Barnes in Atlanta, Georgia, on January 9, 1932, Growing up in Atlanta, she attended O'Keefe High School, graduating in 1949. Oglethorpe University was her next stop, where she met John (Jack) Michael White, Sr. They married in 1950. Sadly, Jack passed away in 1972. Kit is survived by their two children, J. Michael White, Jr., Charlotte, NC; Leigh W. Tompros (Michael), Roswell, Ga; and her grandchildren, Andrea Tompros Fr?nzel (Ron), Roswell, Ga; Nick and Nathan White, Ft. Wayne, Ind. In 1985 Kit and George M. Soper married in Jacksonville, Fla. They resided in Ponte Vedra until George's sudden death in 1996. Their years were filled with love, laughter and lots of travel. Kit is survived by George's children: Susan Soper Holland (Bo), Wendy Soper McSweeney (Patrick) and George "Mike" Soper, Jr. (Bess), along with five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Kit worked in the furniture business for years as a manufacturer rep, then in corporate positions at Ethan Allen and Rhodes Furniture. In 1980, she became a Chick-fil-A franchisee in St. Augustine, Fla. For the next 10 years, she relished her business with pride and joy. Retirement came in 1990 which allowed for more world travels something Kit absolutely loved! A Memorial Service will be held for Kit on Saturday, December 16, 2017, 11:00 a.m., at St. David's Episcopal Church, 1015 Old Roswell Road, Roswell, Ga. Reception to follow at St David's. As per Kit's wishes, please try to not wear black to this celebration of her life. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the , (, or to St. David's Episcopal Church, Roswell, Ga. 30076.
