Clyde PADGETT Obituary
PADGETT, Sr., Clyde Thomas Mr. Clyde Thomas Padgett, Sr. passed away on Saturday December 2, 2017 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta. He was born in Cobb County, GA to Claude Newt Padgett and Ida Newton Padgett on July 13, 1925. Mr. Padgett lived most of his life in Cobb County. He was a house mover with Newton-Padgett House Movers. Later be became a professional truck driver until retiring as a driver with Sherwin Williams. Mr. Padgett was also a veteran of the United States Army, serving during WWII. In 1944 Mr. Padgett married Neoma Ruth Chandler. They had two children: Clyde Thomas Padgett, Jr. and Caran Anita Padgett Oprey. Mr. Padgett is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Robert W. Newton; two sisters, Thelma Virginia Padgett (Bill) Kuglar and Allie Mae Padgett (Garland) Wellborn. Mr. Padgett is survived by his two children, Clyde Thomas (Sandra) Padgett of The Rock, GA and Caran Anita Padgett Oprey of Canton, GA, and one brother Eugene (Vickie) Padgett of Rockmart, GA. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Andrea Christine Bragg of San Francisco, CA, Christopher Blaine (Christine) Oprey of Marietta, Sean Richard Oprey of New York, NY and Shannon Alanna Oprey of Marietta. Mr. Padgett is also survived by one great grandchild, Lydia Curtis of Marietta, two cousins, Sidney (Hilda) Newton of Mableton and his loving companion and cousin, Carol Newton Hackett of Marietta as well as several nieces and nephews. Services will be held in White Columns Funeral Chapel Sunday, December 10 at 2pm followed by interment at Riverview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Saturday, December 9 from 4pm to 6pm at the funeral home.
