Daniel Benton EVANS Obituary
EVANS, Daniel Benton Daniel Benton Evans passed away on October 11, 2017 in Crested Butte, Colorado. Born in Atlanta on July 10, 1986, Daniel was the beloved son of John Benton and Kate Davis Evans and brother of Mollie Evans Miller (Greg). He was pre-deceased by his grandparents. Daniel began his education at the Atlanta Speech School Nursery-Kindergarten and continued through the Wardlaw School where he formed strong and lasting friendships. This group of friends remained together as members of Boy Scout Troop No. 298, and Daniel earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He went on to lead his troop at Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, New Mexico. After finishing at the Wardlaw School, Daniel attended Mount Vernon Presbyterian School and then The Wesleyan School. Graduating from Wesleyan in 2005, Daniel entered the University of Alabama where he became a faithful fan of the Crimson Tide. As was his father, Daniel was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. Following his studies at Alabama, Daniel went on to find and pursue his life's passion on the snow-covered slopes of Colorado. As a ski instructor at Vail and then at Crested Butte, Daniel shared his love of skiing with children and his own friends and family, many of whom caught his contagious love of the sport. Daniel was known for his near-encyclopedic knowledge of college football and his allegiance to the Atlanta Braves. He was deeply loved by his family and many friends, and he loved each in return. He leaves to cherish his memory his parents, his sister and brother-in-law and many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends. A memorial service for Daniel will be held at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 3003 Howell Mill Road on October 18, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. Following the memorial service, a reception will be held at the home of Bill and Kim Evans at 4065 Beechwood Drive, NW, Atlanta, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, memorials for Daniel may be made to the Atlanta Speech School, 3160 Northside Parkway, Atlanta, Georgia 30327 and the Boy Scouts of America, Atlanta Area Council, 1800 Circle 75 Parkway, SE, Atlanta, Georgia 30339-3055.
