PROBST, Daniel "Dan" Daniel "Dan" Robert Probst, 35, died Saturday, November 7, 2015, in Savannah, Georgia. Dan was born in Virginia on November 26, 1979, but was raised in South Carolina. Dan is a 1998 graduate of Irmo High School and a graduate of the University of Notre Dame (magna cum laude), where he earned both his Bachelor (2002) and Master degrees in Accounting (2003). He has been employed at Deloitte since moving to Atlanta 12 years ago, standing out as one of the top performers at the firm. But it was Dan's roles outside of work - those of beloved husband, son, brother and friend -- that were the most important to him. A friend paying tribute to Dan said, "Everything he did, he did like a champion," and it was true. When he married his wife, Karen, whom he loved beyond measure, the couple made it a point to take a big adventure every year they were married. In those five years, they went on safari in South Africa, hiked Machu Picchu, visited Greece, Belize, France, Belgium, and Ireland. Whether traveling the world, perfecting his competition chili recipe, or unironically listening to Hootie & the Blowfish and his other favorite bands, Dan lived large, surrounded by lifelong friends he made everywhere he went. An avid runner, amateur collegiate boxer, and adult kickball all-star, "Coach Dan" approached everything with enthusiasm and always with a smile on his face. His zest for life and his memorable moves on a wedding dance floor will be forever missed by the many people who loved him. Dan is survived by his wife, Karen Balaze Probst, of Atlanta; parents, Robert and Janice Probst of Chapin, South Carolina; brothers Matt (Erica) Probst and Chris Probst; and too many friends to name. A celebration of Dan's life will be held Friday at 11am at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church in Atlanta. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the "Dan Probst Memorial Fund" in care of the University of Notre Dame, Attention: Jamie Barry 1100 Grace Hall, Notre Dame, IN 46556. Any checks should be made out to the University of Notre Dame with the memo field reading "Dan Probst Memorial Fund."
