ROSS, E. Dennis It is with great sadness and tremendous heartache that we announce the passing of E. Dennis Ross. Dennis was born in Springfield, Ohio on December 20th 1941, and was called home on February 9th 2018. Dennis was active in high school where he lettered in football, basketball and was a trumpeter in the band. He attended Ohio University in Athens, OH graduating with honors in Civil Engineering and received his Master of Science in Structural Engineering. At Ohio, Dennis was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. Upon graduation, he immediately was selected by IBM to join their retail marketing team focusing on technology systems in the areas of wholesale and retail distribution. He quickly ascended the corporate ladder as an expert in Retail Information Systems. He became a recognized international leader in Information Systems becoming SVP/Chief Information Officer of Home Depot, and part of the leadership team taking the company public in 1984. He later served on several corporate boards including Quality Stores, Open Environment Corp, Progeny Corp and Miller/Zell Inc. Dennis was an ardent lover of the game of golf and spent countless hours on the driving range perfecting his swing and many, many rounds on golf courses around the world. Dennis was an avid traveler, and he and Marian were able to spend many years traveling around the world. He had a special passion for sailing and the Caribbean, and spent many trips enjoying the sun and the sea. Later in life he most enjoyed spending time with his 5 grandchildren and watching them in the pool, at the lake, on the court, and on the course. Dennis is blessed with many friends and family that love him dearly. He was known for his gentle and genuine demeanor, infectious smile, warm heart, and quick wit. We all will cherish the time and memories that we had with him.
