Dorothy CLARK Obituary
CLARK, Dorothy King Dorothy King Clark, 90, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 17th, 2017. Dorothy was born in Coral Gables, FL on April 5th, 1927 to Lottie Mae Thurmon and Theron William King. The family moved to Dahlonega, GA in 1928. Dorothy graduated from Lumpkin County High School and graduated from Monticello College for Women where she majored in Physical Education. She was wife to Grady Lee Clark, who passed away 1988. They had 6 children together, whom they raised in Buckhead, Atlanta. Dorothy loved Atlanta and it remained her home for the rest of her life. Dorothy was an independent woman, a pillar of strength. She loved spending weekends at her house on Lake Lanier, where she loved to swim; host parties; and watch her grandchildren have fun. She was an exceptional golfer, an avid reader, and had lots of fun playing bridge. She treasured her neighbors. She loved to travel and shared that love with her children and grandchildren, whom she included on many of her trips. She was a longtime, devoted member of Northside Drive Baptist Church. Dorothy is survived by her children, Emory Clark, Sandra Lamb, Gary Clark, Dianne Gatins, and Debbie Hartnett; her nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Reception will be held at Northside Drive Baptist Church (3100 Northside Drive NW, Atlanta; phone: 404-237-8621) on September 21st, 2017 at 12pm, followed by a memorial service at 1pm. Donations in Dorothy's memory may be made to The Atlanta Humane Society (181 Howell Mill Road NW Atlanta, GA 30118; phone: 404-875-5331). Burial will be at the Mount Hope Cemetery in Dahlonega
