Earle BLOMEYER Obituary
BLOMEYER, Earle Benjamin Earle Benjamin Blomeyer, 102, of Atlanta died February 8, 2018. He was born to Edward Charles Blomeyer and Amma Josephine Pottinger Blomeyer October 22, 1915, in Waco, Texas. Graduating from Northwestern University with degrees in Commerce and Law, he served in the US Army Signal Corps during WWII, serving in the Pacific Theater in the liberation of the Philippines; and, was part of the Company moving into Tokyo after the Armistice to set up communications for General Douglas MacArthur. Earle retired as Chairman of the Board of Gladwin Plastics, Inc.; was a charter member of AOPA; Commerce Club Atlanta; Cherokee Country Club Atlanta; Secretary, Tennessee Independent Telephone Association; President, Kentucky Independent Telephone Association. His popular publications included "Tokyo Calling" a series of articles of telephone service in Japan; "Telephone Engineer and Management"; and "Telephony" from 1941 to 1955. Earle's curiosity of people, places and things sparked a desire to travel and he did so extensively to most parts of the world. There was no place on earth that he did not want to visit at least once. He loved all cultures, people and animals. He will be forever missed by all who were touched by his kindness, generosity and love. Mr. Blomeyer was predeceased by first wife, Frances Katherine Kelly Blomeyer; and, is survived by wife, Stephanie Strand Blomeyer; nephew, Edward C. Blomeyer, Jr; niece, Judy Blomeyer Vose; brother-in-law, Terrance J. and wife, Joyce Strand; several great nieces and great nephews. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Holy Innocents' Episcopal Church, 805 Mount Vernon Highway, NW, Sandy Springs, GA 30327 or to The Atlanta Mission, 2353 Bolton Rd., NW, Atlanta, GA 30318. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 17, 2018, at 12:00 noon at Holy Innocents' Episcopal Church.
