Elaine HARVEY Obituary
HARVEY, Elaine Elaine Harvey, 67, of Decatur, Georgia, transitioned on Tuesday November 21, 2017, at Grady Memorial Hospital under Harbor Grace Hospice Care. She was born on July 2, 1950, in Macon, to the parents of Charles Edward and Mildred Harvey. A star pupil, she attended B. S. Ingram Elementary School and graduated from Ballard-Hudson High, both in the Bibb County Public Schools System. Elaine accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age, and grew up attending Mt. Calvary Baptist, Little Rock Baptist, and Crisp Street Holiness Church. After graduation she moved to the Atlanta area, where, for decades, she worked in various capacities across the depth and breadth of Atlanta's bustling hospitality industry. Elaine was a hardworking, independent, kind, compassionate, sharing and caring person, who did not meet a stranger. In the late eighties health issues began to affect her lifestyle, as she retired and began to stay close to home. Once, when she was in outpatient rehab after a hospital stay, she was presented a computer for being so helpful to the other patients and the staff. She appreciated that gesture and that computer became a friend. She enjoyed surfing for the weekly sales at her favorite groceries stores, communicating with her family thru e-mails, and playing solitaire. She was proud to be a homeowner, loved the majesty of living in the ATL, and possessed an over-the-top affection for her Atlanta Braves and Falcons, followed by her favorite TV series, Law and Order. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, and her baby sister Annabell Denise, a special Aunt and Uncle Bob and Ophelia Ringwood, and special friends Sonny Smith, Cecil Hammonds and Robert Lewis Hunt. She leaves to mourn her other siblings: Diana Harvey Johnson Riley (Herman), Mamie L. Reynolds (Edward), Charles Milton (Sharon), Val Edward (Judawn), Hubert (Carmen) and Elder Michael E. (Rhonda). Also, Nieces Janet M. Harvey, Courtney M. Reynolds, Taniqueka Harvey, Ayanna and Ariannah Harvey, nephews Bryan Charles Harvey, Brendan Dane Reynolds, Val Edward, Jr. (Kendra), Stefan and Aaron Michael Harvey; many aunts, uncles and cousins in the Moss Family of Macon-Middle Georgia; the Cohen Family of Jacksonville, FL; Aunts Elmira Yerby and Martha Ann Moss and their families of Dayton, OH; special friends Bryant Bigby and Lisa Cummings, Ywanee Nix, Charlene Josey, Charmaine Hollyfield, and Tristen; and a host of other relatives and friends. The Memorial Service for Sister Elaine Harvey will be held on Friday, December 1, 2017, 12 Noon, in the Chapel of Airport Mortuary Shipping Services, at 744 So.
