COFER (Melton), Elizabeth Anne "Libba" Elizabeth "Libba" Anne Melton Cofer, age 95, a lifelong resident of Lawrenceville, Georgia passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2017. Elizabeth was born November 5, 1922, a descendant of a Gwinnett County pioneer family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years Floyd Allen Cofer, Sr.; her parents Ethan Allen Melton and Maude Craig Melton; sisters, Ruth Melton Fields, Maude Melton Bowman and Gippie Melton McCormack and also a dear aunt, Essie Wilson Craig. She is survived by son & daughter-in-law, F. Allen (Al) Cofer, Jr. and wife Debbie of Loganville, GA, daughter & son-in-law, Anne Cofer Connell and her husband Charles of Lawrenceville, GA; four grandsons, Shane and Kelley Cofer, Jody and Marcia Cofer, Tyler and Kim Brendle, and Casey Cofer Connell; five great grandchildren, Allen, Anna, Brittany, Attison, and "Little" Jody Cofer; nephews, Sammy Fields (Deborah) , Jimmy Fields (Doug), Craig Bowman, and David Bowman; other nieces, nephews, relatives and a host of friends. Elizabeth Cofer was a graduate of Lawrenceville High School and Draughon's Business College in Atlanta, Georgia. In earlier years she and her sisters enjoyed helping with the Children's Sunday School and Vacation Bible School at the time when one pastor served both Fairview and Lawrenceville Presbyterian. She also prepared weekly church bulletins. In 1991 the Lawrenceville Presbyterian Church celebrated its centennial anniversary and Elizabeth served a major role in compiling the history. Elizabeth was a member of the Presbyterian Women's Circle, Burt Tippit's Sunday School Class and The Sunshiner's Group. She worked for the office of Price Administration and later worked for the Department of Family and Children Services. Elizabeth was a member of The Cherokee Garden Club and enjoyed playing Canasta with her lifelong friends. She was an avid reader, but most of all enjoyed spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed family birthdays, holidays and gatherings whether at her home or her children's homes. The Service Honoring the Life of Elizabeth "Libba" Cofer will be held Saturday, December 30, 2017 11:00 A.M. at Lawrenceville Presbyterian Church, 800 Lawrenceville Hwy., Lawrenceville, GA 30046. Rev. Ryan Jensen and Rev. Chip Blankenship will officiate. A reception will be held immediately following the service at the church. Interment will follow at the Fairview Presbyterian Church Cemetery after the reception. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 29th from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. and 4:00 P.M. to 6:30 P.M. at the funeral home.
