Emmagene D'ANGELO Obituary
D'ANGELO, Emmagene R. "Gene" Emmagene (Gene) R. D'Angelo, 74, passed away on Friday, August 10, 2018. She was born on January 12, 1944 in Harlingen, Texas, where her father was stationed during World War II. She was raised in Moultrie, GA. Gene was the second of three generations of University of Georgia home economics majors. While attending the University of Georgia, she met her husband, Sam. They wed in Atlanta where they raised their three children, Cas, Louise, and Laura. A past president of the Brookwood Hills Garden Club and E. Rivers PTA, she was extremely involved in her community and her children's activities. She worked alongside her husband in the landscape architecture business, easily surpassing his knowledge of plants and flowers. In recent years, Sam and Gene split their time between Atlanta and their cabin in Tiger, Georgia. Gene loved college sports, musical performances, theatre, and spending time with her grandchildren. Gene was famous for her genuine desire to engage in conversation with anyone and everyone, and equally famous for her kind and generous heart. In May 2018, Sam and Gene celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary at Christ the King where they were married. A gourmet cook, Gene loved to prepare meals for family and friends. She was generous with sharing fresh baked goods as well as jellies and preserves. Gene was pre-deceased by her father Harold Lee Ragland, mother Sara Brown Ragland, and brother Harold Wayne Ragland. She is survived by her husband Samuel A. D'Angelo, son Cas (Denise) D'Angelo, daughter Louise (Tom) Monti, daughter Laura (David) Common, and her grandchildren Brianna, Tony, Nicolas, Charlotte, Cecilia, Catherine, and David. Donations may be made in her memory to the Cathedral Fund earmarked to Cathedral Choir and mailed to Cathedral of Christ the King, 2699 Peachtree Rd NE, Atlanta, GA, 30305. The visitation will be held, Wednesday, August 15 from 6-8pm at Patterson's Spring Hill 1020 Spring St NW, Atlanta, GA 30309, 404-876-1022.
