Ernest ARVESEN Obituary
ARVESEN, Ernest Ernest Arvesen, beloved husband, father, and friend passed away peacefully November 3, 2017. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Marguerite; his children, Andrew (Danielle), Alan (Michelle), and Christina (Greg); and his three grandchildren. A veteran of the US Army, he later went on to receive his Bachelor's of Business from Rollins College and had a 30 year career at SunTrust Bank. Ernie loved the outdoors and used his skills as a Master Gardener volunteering at McFarlane Nature Park, where he designed the fern swale named after him; the Chattahoochee Nature Center; and the Atlanta Botanical Gardens where he was a Perennial Centennial volunteer and former Volunteer of the Year. He curated his own garden with a mixture of native plants, unique maples, and other hard to find varieties. He enjoyed propagating his plants and sharing them with fellow garden enthusiasts. An avid traveler, he visited six continents, every state in the Union, every Canadian province, and countries too numerous to mention. He always had a camera with him to capture beautiful landscapes and family moments. Memorial donations may be made to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens or Chattahoochee Nature Center.
