Floyd Robert Williams Jr. Obituary
Floyd Robert Williams, Jr., age 83, of Decatur passed away peacefully at his home on October 31, 2017.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd R. Williams and Sina Lambert Williams, and his sister, Florence Ringley of Bristol, Tennessee. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Helen Collins Williams; his 3 children, Marilee Castaneda (Ricardo), Melody Hyde (Mel), and Floyd, III (Jessica); 6 grandchildren: Julie Wright, Janna Skipper, Ricardo Castaneda, Tatiana Castaneda, Kaitlyn Williams, and Reagan Williams; 3 great-grandsons: Riley Wright, Lawson Wright, and Hyde Skipper; his sister, Virginia Carlton; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Floyd grew up in the West End area, and was a 1952 graduate of Brown High School. He graduated from Georgia Tech in 1956, and was a lifelong fan of the Yellow Jackets. Floyd achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and served in the United States Army. He was a pharmaceutical representative during most of his working life, but also ran a concession stand at Fulton County Stadium in the early 1980s. He served as a tour guide of Atlanta and worked in hospitality at the Georgia Dome during retirement.

Floyd was a member of Peachtree Christian Church, and a former member of both First Christian Church of Atlanta and West End Christian Church. He was an avid fisherman, and took great joy in sharing this passion with his friends and family whenever possible. During the last half of his life, he also became an ardent collector of autographs.

Undoubtedly, Floyd was most devoted to loving and supporting his wife, children, and grandchildren, and he spent countless hours watching them at piano recitals, band concerts, high school halftime shows, soccer games, dance recitals, and anything they endeavored.

A celebration of Floyd's life will be held on Friday, November 3, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Peachtree Christian Church in Atlanta. Family will receive friends for an hour immediately preceding the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Peachtree Christian Church Heritage Fund, Peachtree Christian Church, 1580 Peachtree Street, NW, Atlanta, GA 30309.
