Obituary Condolences

ROBERTS, Jr., Frank Frank Stanwood Roberts, Jr. of Acworth, age 95, passed away Tuesday, October 17, 2017. Born in Columbus, GA but grew up and lived in Metro Atlanta all his life. Attended Marist and graduated from Boys' High School in 1941. He attended Emory University, UGA and Babson College in MA. He enlisted in the Army as an Aviation Cadet in August 1942 and served as a fighter pilot in the Air Force from January 1944 until January 1946 as a 1st Lieutenant in the 58th TAC Fighter Squadron. He flew a two engine P-38L and served in India-Burma-China and received American Theatre Service medal, Air medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Service medal and the WWII Victory medal. He was active in the Air Force Reserve until 1957. Employed by Lockheed Martin as a labor analyst until retirement in 1987. Frank was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Dallas, GA. He loved being a volunteer at Wellstar Paulding Hospital. He was preceeded in death by his wife of 61 years, Charmaine Smith Roberts and his sister Helen Roberts Whitney. Survived by daughters Deborah Roberts Hafer and Clare Roberts Patterson both of Acworth; and grandchildren Raina Smith of VA, Paul Hendrickson of MO, and Katie Deriso of Duluth; great grandchildren Talya Smith, Taylor Smith, and Evan Chastain. Preparations are being made for a memorial service with military honors to be held in the Spring of 2018 at The Georgia National Cemetary in Canton, GA.
