BOWEN, George GEORGE JACKSON BOWEN George Jackson Bowen, age 85, born Feb. 23, 1928, a native of Gainesville, GA, graduated from High School there in 1945. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1950. He was a veteran of WWII and the Korean War. He worked as a Salesman for Sears, Shell Oil Co., and the General Electric Co. He graduated from GSU in 1968 with an MBA and taught Economics and Business Administration courses at local Colleges. He was a member of some seventeen Masonic organizations and was active in thirteen of them. He was a Past Master of Palestine Lodge #486 F&AM, a Thirty-third Degree Scottish Rite Mason, a Past Commander of Atlanta Commandery #9, a member of the York Rite College, a Past High Priest of Mt. Zion Chapter #16, Royal Arch Masons, and a Past Illustrious Master of Jason Burr Council #13 of Royal and Select Masters, and was awarded Merit Award #315 and the title of Ritual Director Emeritus by Yaarab Shrine. He was an usher and a Greeter at Saint Bede's Episcopal Church and a long time member. Survivors include; his wife, Frances, of Atlanta, sons: George J. Bowen II and his wife Janet, of Cleveland, Ohio, Lloyd R. Bowen and his wife Darcy, of John's Creek, Georgia, and Granddaughter Angela Bowen, of Cleveland, Ohio, Sister-in-Law Kate Bowen, of Chapel Hill, N.C., nephew Ed Bowen, of Chapel Hill, N.C., Grand niece Diedre Bowen, of Bowling Green, Kentucky. A graveside service will be at Floral Hills Memory Gardens on Wednesday, May 22nd at 10 a.m. There will also be a Masonic Graveside Service by Palestine Lodge #486. Knights of Mecca will serve as honorary pallbearers. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 22nd at 11:30 a.m. at St. Bede's Episcopal Church. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21st at Floral Hills Funeral Home. Please express condolences by visiting
