Hughlon Walstein O'NEAL Obituary
O'NEAL, Hughlon Walstein October 29, 1926- September 8, 2017 Hughlon Walstein O'Neal, 90, of Atlanta, Georgia, passed away surrounded by his loving family on September 8th , 2017. Born on October 29th , 1926, in Atlanta, Georgia, Hughlon is the son of the late Emmett Walstein O'Neal, Jr. and Lucy Bond O'Neal of Atlanta, Georgia. Hughlon married Dorothy Jean Settle in 1946 and they were married for 68 years. Jean preceded him in death on March 12, 2015. Hughlon attended Boys High School in Atlanta, served in the United States Air Force during WWII, and then returned to Atlanta to graduate from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1949. Hughlon worked with his father and brother at their company, United Distributers in Atanta, for many years selling and distributing bibles before continuing his career in sales with various insurance organizations. He was active in civic and charitable organizations including the Atlanta Yaarab Shrine where he participated in philanthropic efforts for children's hospitals. He was a lifelong member of Druid Hills Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon for many years. A beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, Hughlon was kind, warm, loving and generous and will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. Hughlon is survived by his son Alan (Susan) O'Neal of Atlanta, GA and daughter Patti (Steve) Secrest of Johns Creek, GA; five well-loved grandchildren David (Leslie) O'Neal of Atlanta, GA; Alex (Kristen) O'Neal of Atlanta, GA; Keith {Feraby) Moye of Cairo, GA; Kellie (Ryan) Powell of Bainbridge, GA; Stephanie (Tom) Mitchell of Decatur, GA; and great grandchildren Kellan and Waylon Powell of Bainbridge, GA, and Charlie O'Neal of Atlanta. We will celebrate Hughlon's life at Druid Hills Presbyterian Church on Thursday, September 14th, at 2pm. The family will host a reception in the church parlor immediately after the service. A private graveside service for the immediate family will be held earlier on Thursday at Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Tucker, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to either The American Kidney Fund or to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.
