Imogene LANIER Obituary
LANIER (Bennett), Imogene "Gene" Mrs. Imogene Bennett (Gene) Lanier, 93, passed away peacefully in Rome, Georgia on November 7, 2017. She was a graduate of Mercer University with a B.S. degree in Chemistry in 1945. She was a school teacher for many years, working in the Savannah and Atlanta school systems. After retirement, she lived in Acworth, Georgia and was a charter member of Towne View Baptist Church. Mrs. Lanier was an avid painter. Being a minister's wife, she served alongside her husband, the late Dr. W. Forrest Lanier, who served as Pastor of First Baptist Church of Rome (1950-1960), First Baptist Church of Savannah (1962-1969) and Northside Drive Baptist Church (1969-1975). Survivors include four sons, five daughter-in-laws, seven granddaughters, nine great grandchildren and two special nieces. On Saturday, November 11 a graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. at Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens, Rome, Georgia. A 2 p.m. Visitation will be held at Towne View Baptist Church followed by a memorial service at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Jim Conrad officiating. If sending flowers, please have them delivered to Towne View Baptist Church, 950 Shiloh Road, Kennesaw, GA. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to Towne View Baptist Church are also welcome - it was Gene's desire to donate stained glass windows to the church. Please visit www.daniels-funeralhome.com to share fond memories and condolences with the family. Arrangements under the direction of Daniel's Funeral Home, Rome, Georgia.
