ANTHONY, Jeralde Ann Maddox Jeralde Ann Maddox Anthony, age 81, died on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital in Athens, Ga. surrounded by family. She was born on July 15, 1936 in Toccoa Georgia. She attended Benton High School and graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Georgia with a degree in Speech Pathology and in Library Science. Jerry was a wonderful speech therapist and had an exceptional career in Georgia's Public Schools. She was the wife of Rev. Bobby Anthony and served alongside him as he pastored in the North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church. Jerry was preceded in death by her parents, James Pearman Maddox, Annie Mae Collins Maddox, her husband, Rev. Bobby Anthony, and daughter, Laurie Anthony. Survivors include daughter, Lisa Simmering, husband Kenneth, son, Matthew Anthony, wife Sandra, grandchild, Michelle Simmering, great grandchild Coryn Leach, step grandson, Allen Hancock, step great grandson John Michael Hancock, step great granddaughter Haley Beth Hancock, grandson, Jim Anthony, great grandson, James Anthony, sister, Janet Maddox Thomas and husband Roger. Cousins include Mary Elizabeth Davidson, Bill Roberts, Collene Rios, Fred Collins, Deborah Key, Eugenia Crosby, Harry Collins, and Sherry Fitzgibbons. Nieces and nephews are Jeff Thomas, Nadine Wright, Naomi Palmer, Natalie Brooks, Mark Anthony, Mike Anthony, Cheryl Ford, brother-in-law William Anthony, wife Sue Jane and sister-in-law Juniata Anthony. A Memorial Service will be held on January 21, 2018 at Royston 1st United Methodist Church in Royston, Ga. Officiating will be the Reverends James Bocian, Wallace Wheeles, Shawn Waters, and Richard Cathy. It was a distinct privilege for Jerry's son Matthew Anthony to care for his mother during her later years. Jerry was a person of faith and lived a life serving others. All who knew her loved her. She was committed to her family and her memory will always be carried in their hearts.
