1945 - 2017 Obituary Condolences
HAMILTON, Jerry R. Mr. Jerry R. Hamilton, 72 of Marietta, GA died Sunday, October 8, 2017. Jerry grew up in the Smyrna area and graduated from Campbell High School. Camping, swimming, boating and skiing were the hobbies of his youth. Jerry joined Zep Manufacturing Company at age 19 and used his customer service skills to progress into branch and administrative management. He served Zep for 45 years while taking a two year sabbatical to serve his country during the Vietnam War with the United States Army 1st Infantry Division. After Vietnam, Jerry returned to Zep, attended Georgia State University and started his family. He was always deemed a "nice guy" with a great sense of humor. An avid square dancer with his beloved Wheel Arounds and wood- turning were his passions later in life. Jerry was a computer gamer, shootist and a man with the golden touch of computer repair. He enjoyed traveling to foreign countries with his family and going on cruises. Superseding all of these interests was his renewed commitment to his Christian beliefs and his love of East West Church. We miss you, my brother, but know you are now healed of your frailties and reside with Saints in the presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Until we meet again. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, James and Nellie Batson Hamilton of Greenville, SC and his brothers, James Hamilton, Jr., Odell Hamilton and Tommy Hamilton. He is survived by his daughter Lisa Hamilton of Marietta, sons and daughter-in-law, Bruce Hamilton of Palm Springs, CA and Christopher and Lena Hamilton of Ljungsbro, Sweden; and his grandchildren, William and Elina Hamilton. Other survivors include sisters-in-law, Betty Hamilton and Debra Hamilton, both of Acworth; nieces, Cindy Mullin and her children, Chelsea and Oliver Mullin; Stephanie Simpson and her children, Leah Young and Michael Simpson, Jr. and his nephew, James Hamilton. Jerry's second family of loved ones include step-daughter, Amanda (Jim) Hemphill and grandchildren, Caitlyn Mauldin and Stephanie Williams; step-son, Barry (Tammy) Duncan and grandchildren, Chris, Nicholas and Christa Duncan. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 16 at 11 a.m. at East West Church with Pastor H. Alan Mushegan officiating. Jerry will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment with United States Army honors will be at 2:30 p.m. at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to East West Church, 1521 Hurt Road, Marietta, GA 30008 or to your local . The family will receive friends Sunday, October 15 from 5 until 8 p.m. at Carmichael Funeral Home in Marietta (770) 424-4924
