John Steinichen III Obituary
STEINICHEN, III, John John Steinichen III, 87, a native of Atlanta, recently of Marietta, passed away peacefully at Tranquility Hospice at Kennesaw Mountain on December 30th. He was born June 5, 1930 in Atlanta and attended Georgia Tech, receiving a Masters of City Planning in 1963, working in urban renewal around the Southeast for the majority of his professional life. He served honorably in the Army Medical Corps for almost three years including one year in Korea. His great family joy was visiting with grand- and great-grandchildren and encouraging them to thoughtful achievement. He also received pleasure from vegetable gardening, sharing generously with friends and family, and wielding his considerable professional expertise in infrastructure planning and development at DeKalb County Planning Commission meetings. He remained throughout a man of formidable intellect and unwavering opinions. He is preceded in death by his wife of almost 62 years, Charlotte Ann Adams, two sons and daughters-in-law, Karl (Nancy) and Paul (Peggy) Steinichen, four grandchildren, Nick Steinichen, Emily Altman, Charlotte Steinichen and Adam Steinichen, and three great-grandsons, Steinichen, Ollister, and Gideon Altman. A private gathering for family and friends will be held at a later date. The family requests any memorials be made to Wellstar Hospice, Tranquility at Kennesaw Mountain, 475 Dickson Rd, Marietta, GA 30062.
