Ken Massingale, of Decatur passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2017. He was born on April 12, 1933 to Houston Henry and Nettie Blackwell Massingale. He graduated from Russell High School and GA State University in 1965. He served 4 years in the US Navy Reserve and 2 years in the US Army. Ken retired from GDOT, was a Boy Scout leader, a member First Baptist Church of Decatur and of the DeKalb County Jaycees, was a member of the Decatur Lions Club, a Lions Club District Governor and a President of the GA Lions Lighthouse Foundation. In addition to his parents, Ken was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles, Harvey, Bill and Marvin and stepmother, Bertha Seay Massingale. He is survived by his wife of over 58 years, Eugenia (Genie) W. Massingale; his son, Stephen Massingale and wife, Yoko; and grandchildren, Joshua and Kristen Massingale. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of A.S. Turner & Sons on Sunday, Dec. 3rd at 3 pm with burial at Melwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lions Clubs International Foundation, the First Baptist Church of Decatur or a . A.S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory.
