TALGO, Kirk Boone Kirk Boone Talgo, age 66, passed away suddenly of an apparent heart attack on the evening of Monday September 11, 2017. A resident of Atlanta for the past 41 years, Kirk is survived by his wife of 34 years, Susan; son Mark; brothers, Scott (Edel) of Chicago, Bruce (Karen) of Suwanee, Brian (Claudia) of Oslo, Norway. Also surviving are his 7 nephews and 5 nieces. Kirk was born in Meridian, Mississippi but moved with his family to Westchester Co; New York when he was in the fourth grade. Always excelling in sports, he was the captain of the basketball team and the quarterback for the football team. After graduating from Fox Lane High School, he pursued higher education at Westminister College in Fulton, Missouri. Moving to Atlanta in 1975, Kirk pursued a career in landscape management and worked for several years for some of the following companies, Hastings Nursery, Lifescapes, Georgia Baptist Hospital, Morrell Group and Brickman Associates. He completed his career at the Georgia Building Authority where he managed the landscape program at the Governor's Mansion. While in this position he especially enjoyed training and supervising the prison inmates who completed their sentences while working at the mansion. Kirk's love of gardening led him to complete the DeKalb Master Gardener program and help create a native plant walk in DeKalb County's Henderson Park. A lifelong athlete and sports fan, he enjoyed playing tennis and softball, coaching soccer and basketball and serving as a referee at youth soccer games. An enthusiastic music fan, Kirk loved going to concerts and always brought interesting music back to family and friends. He was an avid reader and photographer. He could be counted on for a lively discussion whether politics, history or popular culture was the topic. Kirk's family and friends will especially miss his great disposition and famous sense of humor. Friends and family will gather at the Georgia Governor's Mansion at 3:00 pm, Saturday September 30 to honor his memory and enjoy the lovely gardens he helped create. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to Trees Atlanta, 225 Chester Avenue, Atlanta, GA 30316 or to Heartbound Ministries, P O Box 191703. Atlanta, GA 31119-0703. A. S.
