LEWIS, Lillian LILLIAN MILES LEWIS Celebration of Life for Mrs. Lillian Miles Lewis of Atlanta, GA, will be held Monday, January 7, 2013, 11:00AM at Ebenezer Baptist Church (New Horizon), 407 Auburn Avenue, NE, The Reverend Dr. Raphael Warnock, Senior Pastor, Officiating. Interment, South-View Cemetery. She is survived by a loving and devoted husband of forty-four years, US Congressman John R. Lewis; one son, John Miles Lewis; sister, Mrs. Debra Dixon (Samuel), and a host of other relatives and friends. Family and friends are asked to assemble 10:30AM at the church, 404-758-1731

John - I just heard on NBC when you were talking with Brian Williams that Lillian had passed away. You may remember me as the guy who worked with her in the late 60s and early 70s at Atlanta University to create the Black Studies Collection for Bell & Howell, with a team microfilming books and other materials in her library. I also visited you in your he in DC when you were running Vista and your son was a baby. I have lots of very fond memories of Lillian when we ate in some restaurants around Atlanta or she dropped me off at the airport, and she pretended we were married, to get a rise out of anybody within earshot!
She was a great lady! My deepest condolences!

I had to look and see when, as I lost my husband December 30, 2012, at 3:49 pm....I see that your lovely wife passed away just about 24 hours later. I remain in New York. Al Lingo told me of Lillian's demise. I also spoke to William Harbour and Bernard Lafeyette about Lillian.
I am certain that you will remember all the special things in your marriage of such long years.
